A few things I loved about this birth:
1. All natural. Women are so strong. (You were Amazing, Michelle!)
2. Sweet miss “E” now shares a birthday with her Mama. I can’t imagine a sweeter gift.
3. The baby’s sex was a surprise to Mama.
4. Only girl, with 2 (equally adorable) older brothers, Mom was really hoping to add a girl to the mix! I love these next images. Mom just said, “I can’t believe I got my girl!”

5. I could totally see myself hanging out with Mom and Dad. (I really enjoyed meeting your family, Michelle and Ryan! Best wishes to you! I’ll be posting newborn images soon!)

Emotions are raw. Love. Agony. Doubt. Elation.

This sweet Mama, between contractions and trying to breathe, asked me if I ever get bored (while photographing a birth). “Never,” I answered.

I can’t imagine anything as wonderful as witnessing a mother as she labors to bring a new life to this earth. She is strong and selfless. She is supported and loved. And after the pain, and questioning, and the pushing (don’t forget), she is never the same. She is a Mother.

Grant and Lauren, it was such an honor to be with you as you welcomed little “H” to your family. You will be amazing parents. What a blessing!

Amelia’s Birthday

February 14, 2011

If I had to use one word to sum up sweet Amelia’s Mama it would be graceful. She was just so beautiful and strong throughout labor. And when the decision had to be made for a cesarean section, after several long hours of labor, she was still so peaceful and calm. It was truly inspiring to witness.

Thank you so much D & B for allowing me to be present for miss Amelia’s birth day. She is such a miracle and she could not have asked for better parents! Can’t wait to share the rest of the images with you!

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!

A few weeks ago I received a phone call from Martha at New Dawn Midwifery asking if I would be interested in displaying my work there. I have such a passion for birth and newborn photography so I was absolutely thrilled! Below are a few of the canvases we hung.  So exciting!
